Only if you want to play at 4k resolutions.
A 4k capable PC will be able to output to a 1440p, 1080p etc TV or monitor without issue. And with PC you've also the option of 21:9 (3440x1440) ultrawide monitors too.
4k consoles will also be able to output to 1080p monitors, if it has an HDMI input.
