Picking up my nice new dm800 on saturday.. wouldnt mind the idea of using it as a pvr can i connect a portable hd to it or is there space to fit a hard drive in it? or is it best to record over the network?

PS i assume the bouquets and epg are a step up from the 500s

You can connect a portable drive if you wish but its built to accomodate an internal hard drive too & works well.

Where you getting it Colin and how much?

You can fit an internal 2.5" HDD mate.

EPG etc is shit as usual, but looks better, lol.

You can use a plugin though that will download full listings from the Internet.

sent you a pm stu, hmm interesting regarding internal is a tight fit or easy to pit have a spare 500gb usb powered drive though so will probs just use that.

Piss easy to fit mate, remove case screws, fit wee HD bracket (if it's not already fitted) insert HD into bracket, connect power and data leads and replace the case screws.

I don't know what your use to but my Satmate UK 7 day EPG is great

@Colin I had a lot of trouble mounting my 3.5" 500gb external USB HDD,the only way I could get it work was to have the HDD powered up all the time which seem silly. If I turned off the HDD I had to initialise it again losing anything I had recorded etc
The way I got round this was to take the usb hdd caddy apart, remove the circuit board from the hdd, plug the esata cable that came with the DM into the hdd, plug the other end into the DM and take a 12V feed off the fan connector to power the hdd.Works a treat.
