The edge.
With the cost of fuel now being really obscene, and newspaper reports today saying itll carry on going up for 3 years or so, ive been taking more and more interest in people who run their cars on veg oil, and have now decided that over the summer im going to start running my van on it as well.

ive been looking at sites such as this one http://www.biodieselcommunity.org/gettingstarted and wondered if anyone here uses alternative fuels in their engines

what do you all think of it?

would you try it?

heres how easy it is to make a small sample of biofuel to test in your diesel engine http://www.biodieselcommunity.org/makingasmallbatch/

Work.... Where else?
Think this has been discussed many times. lol. As I have stated before, my mate ran his citreon for over a year on veg oil. Just bought straight out of tescos, and put in the car, not even adding diesel to it. Ran very well, but stunk like a chip shop. If you can handle the smell, then go for it.

Been to Rat's, have rash to prove it ;)
There is a lad at work has bought some kit and joined up with 5 other's at work to make their own. Having a petrol car myself it wasn't worth me doing it, lol.

Gas it a good alternative for petrol cars but it's an expensive conversion although the govenment used to give you so much towards it.

Think that's 52p per litre at the mo.

ive ran my 2004 van on it for that last 3 years with no problems @ all in the winter i mix it 75% oil 20% derv
as its a bit of a fecker to start in the cold ,, now its warmer its on 100% i buy catering oil drums 25l @ around £15 from the wholesaler ..
Used to cost 1/2 that BUT !! now as the most major fuel manufactures are using vegi oils in the derv being sold from the pumps you will have noticed the price rocket in the supermarkets , this is down to them feckers buying it all up and the supermarkets price fixing and cashing in on the action ....

The way to go is make your own but as most chippys are actually paid for there waste oils don't expect to get it for free if you do your lucky.
Theres company's out there collecting and processing the oils and selling on for 70-80 per ltr and so there happy to pay for waste ... something a few years ago would have been laughed @ ... i think they had to pay to have it taken away ...

you don't have to spend mega bucks to use old oils just a get a good supply and some filters
google will provide all the required info ...

u can to be careful lads

All Diesels cars are suitable , 99% of all cars with year of construction before 1998 are problem-free suitable

No Cars with:
-Lucas and CAV- injection pumps -CommonRail engines

most cars now r common rail diesels (lm sure there doing this on purpose)

might be worth getting an old knack for work tho , 306 or early 406 run on this fine

oh yeah forgot to mention, dont store bio diesel for long periods of time... as it starts to grow and can damage your engine...

this is for processed bio and nvo is not effected...
