Diagnose my nokia ??

i cant plug this box into the tv at the moment as my connected working box is doing a scan.........how do i just reflash this bin file you talk of as i have nothing to lose, it came from a well known german website like this and i am sure they would have spotted something like that so i am guessing they sent me a faulty box on purpose.

having said that i did have it going once or twice when i first got it but only for about 2 hours.

Maybe a dry joint on the SEC chip or the SEC chip broke after that 2 hours.
Flash a UK sportster from the downloads. If you get the same error message something is wrong with the SEC chip.

i got the latest sportster on already....tried loads of other different images as well.......that must rule out the file being corrupt as it must get flashed with every image ? is the chip replacable ?

Every chip on the dbox mainboard is replacable but you have to own the skill and the correct equipment to do such a soldering job.

i know someone that chips play stations and the soldering is of a similar microscopic scale.....he would charge about £20 to desolder and replace.....would the chip be relatively cheap ?

The thin blue cam for the dbox1 include the same chip. You can get such a modul for 3 or 4 euros plus pp via german ebay.
Maybe a resoldering of the old chip will also do the job.

If the SEC chip is not functional the video and audio datas don't reach the avia chipset for decoding.
You can flash a other image and double check the boot log.

ok, i will flash a nextgen or some thing to it and post results tommorow, thank you very much mgb, allways helpful.

Well i have put Gavs updated zogre image on and added service files, here is the log, this time the cable feed is in. Dont look to good to me mgb, what do you think ?.......also i looked at the SEC chip on the board, i look at the back to try to find solder points then realised that they were the microscopic ones on the legs of the chip.....surely a robot solders these sort of chips on ? the solder wire must be like cotton !!!! anyone fancy the job.....LIAM ? ;)

mgb has pointed out on the previous image log the same line which he says is attributed to the sec chip....i know someone that chips play stations but i dont think the soldering needed on those are as small as the soldering needed to replace this chip........has anyone here ever replaced a chip of such complexity ??

Maybe resoldering with a hot air gun is sufficient.

from the german site that has a website....dbox@linux or something, apparently the warranty is now void as i have opened it.....it will cost me £40 to get it there and back anyway.

You cannot destroy the sec chip with opening the box.The warranty is still activ.
Let the seller do the repair job.Send the box back and enclose a letter with that error message.

yeah i hear what your saying mgb, but the disclaimer states that the warranty is viod, its not like i am dealing with dixsons here, he aint gonna pay the postage and he may not send it back, he already stated that i could send it back when i though it was a tuner problem...but he wants me to pay the postage...so anyone reading this...dont get a box from them.....now i am looking for someone with the skills and tools reqwuired to change this chip over.

@loady,

hi, did you ever get anywhere with fixing/replacing your SEC chip? I've got the same error line in my bootmanager log and am curious to know if there is any way to resolve this. I've seen a German site that claims to do chip repairs but I wanted to see if you'd had any progress first........
