Why not just visit a forum or two, just because there are illegal things going on, on the deep web part of the dark web doesn't mean you have to go there. You can use tor browser to view normal sites as well.

If you want to take a look what you could do is use another PC (or VM) without a hard drive, and use a Linux Live CD(iso) so OS/browser runs from CD, with no local storage to be infected.

Biggest mistake was installing TOR on your network.

you are using an ex-usa navy encryption mate.
I touched on a post earlier with VPNs.
Use VPN “over” TOR when installing.

Last thing anyone wants to do is download TOR on there network.

Install balenaEtcher

Select the img you have downloaded and select your usb drive and flash ...... Sorted

There are multiple things available on the deepweb/darkweb that are not available on the surface net.

That'll give you some markets etc to visit and see. I would also suggest joining and reading dread. It's a reddit style board that went from reddit to DW, and where all the cool cats hang out.

You can of course visit the hidden wiki, but be careful, it's full of scammers, and links to CP. If that's your thing then GFY!

People are suggesting tails/Whonix etc, yes these are great but not needed to simply visit and browse. Look for the jolly roger security guide if you want to stay safer.

Learn PGP, it will make things easier in the future.

@ukbob I've never purchased anything, but i have had a quick browse. No harm in looking.
I suppose the risk depends on what your after? If your buying drug's for personal use, i wouldn't worry. If your buying anything that could land you a custodial, then you'll need to be vigilant.
