Decorative Slate chippings for the garden

Anyone used this stuff in their gardens?

Is it any good?

Ive got around 20m in my garden with lots of weeds growing and I was thinking of covering the whole area in slate chippings.

Where would the cheapest place be to get this?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Keyline is quite cheep and so is wickes. (not sure wickes sells them)

To find your nearest keyline store click here.

Before u put them down make sure you cover the area in plastic sheeting to help prevent weeds from repopulating the area.

what about getting it direct from quarry there must be one near you i have 2 near me they are cheep.
one ton sand from quarry 7.00 from supplyer 41.00 but thats delivery

Cheers guys, anyone know if there is a quarry in NW London (I doubt it but worth asking)?

Also does this stuff last long or will my time and effort be wasted after a few years?

I wouldn't cover the whole garden in that stuff, have a browse at some landscape designer sites to get some ideas. You can do something really nice if you're prepared to work hard and rip someone elses ideas off.

As notmeatall3 said make sure that you put a roll of DPM down and gaffer tape them together to keep the weeds out. This will mean that you will have no natural drainage so make sure that you plan accordingly.
