DVB - PC Cards Dec 2000

I've had one for years, they were a nice bit of kit back in the day.

There used to be a whole forum dedicated to it (decforum.com)

when that closed we all went over to the Hauppauge UK forum

but they have just had a clean out and deleted hundreds of posts on the old kit 8(

Chris Day used to run a site with all the drivers and firmware updates but most of that seems to have gone:

http://www.dayc.vispa.com/reviews/dec2000t.htm

and this is years out of date now:

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/support/support_dvb-t.html

It is basically a USB SkyStar1 class card (I opened mine to see if there was an internal CAM connection lol)

The box was actually made by TechnoTrend so all the drivers and firmware came from them.

Hauppauge now make there own kit and don't support the old TechnoTrend stuff anymore,

The newer firmware makes the box a lot more use-able but you need to make sure you use

right one for your hardware revision or you will brick it for good, does your's have a SPDIF audio out?

Sadly there are a few things this box will never be able to do:

Because it is USB 1.1 (12Mbps) it can never do HD or have a BDA driver,

So it won't work with with MediaCenter, MediaPortal or many other new apps.

It also has a hardware PID filter so it can't work with SoftCAMs to decrypt pay tv,

I looked into a firmware hack for this for ages but it was just to much work.

Playing back video to a TV over the DEC never worked correctly,

it is better with the last firmware beta but still not 100%.

The DEC can't do MHEG interactive in STB mode but there is an add-on app to view it on the PC.

I helped beta test DEC driver plugins for MyTheatre and ProgDVB,

they are a bit fidly to set up but they do work.

The is a really old version of ShowShifter that works with it to.

I'm sure I have all this stuff on a disc somewhere so I will try and dig it out if you're interested.

Cheers,
Nick

Driver and Application 2.18c

Driver and Application 2.18c for DEC2000-t and DEC3000-s

Better stability with the new Driver Application 2.18C

Cheers for the link Nik

Hi again,

the 2.18 and 2,.19 drivers are better but they only work properly when matched

with the correct firmware version, check yours in the settings menu in STB mode.

I can send you the firmware update but I need to know what revision your DEC is.

If it has a SPDIF audio out (instead of anologue) and a Tri-colour LED it is a new one.

Let me know and I'll send you the files.

Nick
