factory to ddwrt is if for a new flash, as in router is running the oem firmware and you want to move to ddwrt

the ddwrt firmware is if you are already running ddwrt and want to upgrade to another version of ddwrt
cheers understand now the difference, doing tomorrow, got caught up on things

Hi Guys,

I managed to flash the router tonight, all went well, setup my ssid and passwords, had a look around as a bit new to me,
so im actually setting up PureVPN on it, its not my first choice of vpns these days but tied to them till it runs out,
so im at a bit How to Install and Connect Applet on DD-WRT Router?
so tells me to copy/paste
Go to Administration > Commands and then enter the following command.
eval `wget -q -O - 'https://routerapplet.purevpn.com/cgi-bin/applet-cgi.py'

which installs the applet to set purevpn up, except ive tried a few times and just not happening
firmware version DD-WRT v3.0-r44483 (10/02/20) which is way beyond what they say it needs to be above
DD-WRT

should i be doing this or should i be using one of the below, must admit im handy round pcs but knowing what type of setup on vpn im unsure of.

How to setup PPTP on DDWRT Router
How to setup OpenVPN on DDWRT Router
How to setup OpenVPN via Script Method on DDWRT Router

cheers

if your VPN suppoprts OpenVPN config file (most do) then use that, as its built in

I use digibit VPN and have it setup as a OpenVPN client on my router

why are you using port 53 for the port (53 is reserved for DNS), common VPN port is 1194 over udp

not sure why you are using port 53 as thats for DNS

here is my settings on my router I use digitbit vpn

I pasted the CA cert from the open vpn file I got

I enter my login on the web page rather then add it in config settings and point to the text file with the details
