Converting .mov to something else?

I've got a few movies from my digital camera and they are in .mov (Quicktime) format. But they are really big in size and I want to convert them so maybe avi or mpeg and down to something more managable.

Anyone know of any programs that will do this. I normally use Xilisoft Multimedia Tools but this says failed everytime a try it.

Total video converter is excellent for this. It'll convert your QT files to AVI, MPEG or whatever you want.

Most encoders such as TMPGenc, CCE can convert quicktime files. Or you could Specialist converters such as Ultra Video Converter /EO Video . Not a full member here yet so I cant post or PM you. I personally would recommend Ultra video converter because it quick, but the quality is good, there also a trial.

Remember that vid conversion is not a lossless process, whatever you use to reduce size will invariably reduce quality.
