Anyone else having issues with Control panel printer install function obtaining drivers from windows update? If I chose download from windows update I see the list, and pick the proper driver. Eventually I am notified that windows failed to install the driver. This is in a business setting, and I dont want to use, or cannot use the miserable replacement they have put in settings.

I can always download a driver, but in many cases for older printers, the latest and sometime only driver is the one supplied by microsoft.

Help

You can try to find out exactly what your printer's name is.
And then install the drivers manually.

I can get the printer installed, I just cannot do it with default windows drivers, that is the problem. I also cannot add it in the new windows printer add as they are on a completely separate ip scheme.

With my work Printer (Konica Minolta) if I use the windows drivers then print a test page it prints a continuous ream of rubbish, the official software from the manufacturer works perfectly
