confused about ntl configs...

im donating a spare sb4200 to a friend of mine, he is on ntl and i am on tw so i cant help him with giving him a mac, he has a friend on ntl about 100 miles away...would the macs his mate scans for be usable on his modem and vice versa ?
Also, baring in mind the modem is an sb would ALL the following macs work on it or would it have to be one that mentions sb4100 ??

cmreg-ntlhm100-bund03.cm - 10MB down 512k up

cmreg-ntlhm120-bund03.cm - 10MB down 512k up

i understood that an ambit 250 10mb config/mac would work on a sb ?? is it just that one though or do the 100,200's work as well and is there more involvement needed to make them work on an SB ??

ps. my mates ubr ? mid-cache-6.server.ntli.net doesnt look anything like a telewest config...whats it break down into ? is the 6 like the area as for telewest say...ubr06 then followed by town name?

100 miles away is just way too far, thats like we in london using a mac from bristol but hey u never know it might work i've seen things happen

100 miles away is no good, you ideally need somebody from the same city. Any config or Mac address will work on any modem providing the modem is in the correct area ei:
TW, Config: cm-10240-384, Downstream Frequency:
331000000
N*L, Config: cmreg-mota4100-bund03.cm, Downstream Frequency: 402750000
EXCW, Config: cmreg-mota4100-bund03.cm, Downstream Frequency: 586750000
