iPhone Clarification Required !

Me sons Iphone 3gs 16gb crashed..... just blank screen.....couldn't get it in recovery,DFU......then it started showing the low battery indicator..but still couldn't do anything with it,left charging nothing happening...took it to local o2 store they said it had to go back to Apple.....as it was still under warranty.
Took it in store yesterday and the guy managed to get it in recovery and has put 4.0FW on it ( I Think )
I need to know can this be jailbroken and unlocked yet ?
Any advice appreciated !!!

If it was JB before and you have the SHSH files you can downgrade back to an earlier fw. Otherwise no mate. You sure its on 4.0, could be 4.0.1.

Janobi....ur right they have put 4.01 on it ! I asked the guy and he said it was just the 4.0 as we had heard problems with 4.01...is this screwed now till a jailbreak exists ?
