As the use of ad blockers grows, some websites have resorted to displaying abusive or irritating ads to make up for lost revenue. With Google's Chrome 71 update, though, the company will be combating these practices by automatically blocking every ad on a given website if even a handful of harmful ads are allowed to run wild.

It seems a bit counter-productive on Google's part given advertising is a major part of their revenue. I've not used Chrome for some time now, it was beginning to feel 'heavy' and bloated. I'll give it another try now.

I bet they don’t block ads that google are paid for through their contract holders. I will ask my better half as she works for a google contract holder.

My better half said that it block all advertising on a website if the website contains intrusive, abusive and deceptive advertising. You will still see legitimate advertisements as long as the website complies with Google’s advertising rules.
