I just bought a brand new cb radio, cost me £90

i used to be a cb user back in the early 90's so i thought i'd get one again to have a laugh with all the brakers again.

so i got all the stuff, set it all up......great.

i've spoke to one person in a week.

where have all the cb users gone?

if you live near wellingborough, get a cb so i can talk to someone.

is cb dead?

: grim :

talking about cb i got an ham international in the cupboard form about 12 years ago i might get it out and see if it still works

I used to be a CB kid in the days of ET etc. I had a Maxcom 4E with 100 watt boots and I thought I was the biz. My handle was Mr Woodstock. I think I was 12 or 13!! My dad thought it was cheaper than me using the phone.

I got back into CB when I was about 19 - using a higly modified President Grant capable of high highs to low lows but always found myself on the legal eagles.

Two funny things I remember during my re-incarnation....

(1) Getting on channel 14 and trying to get a copy - to be told we aint used than channel for years m8. Everyone had turned to the previously truckers only channel 19.

(2) Waiting outside Broxbourne College for my girlfriend to finish. I was driving a diesel ford escort, Modulator whip sitting on a mag mount on the roof talking away to a m8 when some girl got in the back and asked me to take her to the station - she thought I was a cab!!!

Great fun can be had - it's like real MSN

wow

i used to have one in the eighties when it was illegal

had some really great time's on it.....eyeball eyeball...............lol...........

cb radio was great when it was on AM only, eyeballs, foxhunts and convoys, everything changed when it went legal, that was the downfall for cb radio in this country. 10-10 till we do it again

i had an illegal aerial but the rest was ok i think lol

i used to annoy people on it... loved winding people up who was having a chat they all used to say they would come and find me lol.

sorry i was about 12 at the time ;)

funny i then went into PMR stuff .... motorola p210, gp300 those was the days lol still have about 4 gp300's (2 visars - fooking expensive at the time) using companys repeaters could talk all over london (beep beep beep lmao) and the whole programming RIB kit.

cb was great fun wish i was more grown up to use it back then and had a normal conversation ;)

Regards
Mickie D

keep the shiney side up and the greasy side down ,10/10 good buddy ,breaker on the side loved it all ,was illegal for ages smokey coudnt catch me and my buddies went legal then went to ham cq cq

yes i knew boxer very well
cb dead ?? depends where you are
but a lot have moved over onto ham radio taking the M3 foundation course
10watts computer linked repeaters talk all round the world and dont even have to have a radio or aerial lol

i used to love cb

i had plent of kenwoods and yaesus in the past but problem now is people find it easier to saty in touch on the p.c

if you have a cb in the car you may find a few tryckers still out there but other than that its a watse of money.

get skype off the net to talk to people. very good chat proggy similiar to msn.

yes but you cant carry pc round with you in car all the time and if you was seen using msn you would be nicked lol,

Any way its not the same as using a radio, plus all the other stuff you can do.
mind you ill have to try this skype see if i can contact the iss? could be fun
waste of money i would agree CB is but not Amateur Radio.
Amateur Radio is not just for talk, mind you you do a lot of it yes, its about friendship, about learning electronics if you wont, about under standing radio its workings, how far or what country can i talk to on this radio i made running very little power.

any one can play music over a Cb all day whats the fun in that, or wipe out next doors tv lol.

its a good hobby
