Any lecy techies answer this.
Looking at motor start / run capacitors deoes it matter about the voltage rating? I.E. could i use a 40uF start cap 470v on a 240 volt motor?

Yes, you could use a 470v capacitor. The voltage rating is the maximum allowed voltage. However, you do need to make sure that the capacitance is correct to get the right current through the motor, and that you are using the correct type. Run capacitors are designed to carry the motor current continuously but start capacitors can only handle the intermittant currents that flow through it to get the motor started.

Long as the voltage rating of the capacitor is above the voltage applied over it and it's the right capacitance value. No problems!
