i can't tune to anything other than BBC - tv freeview won't pick up anything else

Did it work in the past? BBC is usually the most powerful signal - this may be why BBC works and nothing else (they will be different transponders).

Can you confirm what it is that you are after, FREEVIEW is channels which are received through your TV aerial or FREESAT which are channels that are received from 28e through a satellite dish.

A rare problem but it happens. Some twit connects his FREEVIEW box to his satellite LNB cable. The (usually poorly screened) cable, acting as an aerial, picks up the strongest signal, which happens to be BBC. Answer: install an aerial and connect FREEVIEW box to that.
