Can A Sat box be used with Cable?

My uncles mate bought a dbox2. Unfortunately he bought a sat one instead of the cable one. Tried to flash it as normal but cannot get it to scan as it is always looking for sats instead of cable providers. Tried to FXP bruteforce scan onto but still only getting options of sats. Is it possible to convert it so it will work on cable or will it need to be sent back & changed for a cable one?

Afraid you wont get cable on a sat dbox, its got a sat tuner not cable tuner.

dbox cable tuner for sale on ebay now for £19.99 mmay be cheaper to buy this than send box back

You won't get sky with a dbox.
I turned my old sky dish to hotbird 13.0 and use my sat dbox to get french film channels with an english feed. There are over a 1000 channels but not all can be decoded and very few are in english.
You can test it works by connecting it to a sky dish as you will get the fta channels as they have no encryption at all.
