hi all, I am trying to setup my cable tuner, do I have to input my area code, frequency, symbol rate or is there a simple way of doing a scan?

Try cable auto bouquets for cable.

Included in some images you can select your area and scan.

If using AutoBouquets Cable, you must be on an active cable channel (does not have to be free) before you run it.

AutoBouquetsMaker (ABM) does not need this. It tunes to pre-defined frequencies and then runs. ABM can be installed via plugin menus on most recent images, on one it is pre-installed. If you image does not have either of these, see this thread
