bought an ex C&W sammy but i live in an NTL area.. what can i do??

hi, as the topic says.. i live in an pure ntl area but i have bought an EXC&W samsung box. the box has pink/perple menus and in my area (pure ntl) we have blue menus. normaly samsung boxes detect and set the correct net id when they are connected to the stream on pure ntl, but these dont they stay on 09999 even after i have set the correct frequency.

can i force an update or somthing some how or is there another way to set the net id??

set frequency then try this hold the left and right buttons in then power up the box

tried left and right after setting frequency and nothing happens just boots as normal to pink menus...

You wil need to change the net-id manually as the box needs to update to pure ntl software. As far as I know, you will not be able to force a change of software from exc&w to pure ntl.

You can use the tried and trusted method of jtagging or the relatively new way of using a funcard.
All of the stuff you need will be returned with a search mate.

If you pm me your email addy I can send you a useful tutorial which will guide you on the jtag method if that is the way you decide to go.

jtag box use ocd change net id with a macro for your area

You will need to write a macro for you area nedid., use BKE2.2 to do this?
Jtag box and use OCD to write this macro to the box.
reboot box into em and you should see the netid is now correctly set? you can then manually set you area frequency.
Once this is done stream the box and it should then take the latest software update ......

Note: it may be easier to lift the the bk off the box with the earlier software installed so I'd suggest to get the bk before trying any of the above ....

Hi, thanks for your reply, i am not sure what u mean by make a macro using bke2.2 and write it to box using ocd.... how do i make a macro for the net id using bke 2.2 i have had a look and cant see any options in bke2.2 to do this?

I would use the funcard method mate it is much easier once you understand it.

BKE go to tools>jtag>macromaker>enter netid and save file.

Open OCD with jtag connected to box, click macro and open the file you've just made. this will automatically install the netid on the box. reboot box and then set area frequency .....

Yes i have done mine just to see if it would work, sticks on ld20 but just remove card and reboot works like a charm. I have got to do one for a m8 as soon as i can find the net id for Fulham London W6 but its not on any of the lists. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there i have a similar dillema my mate wants me to do a sammy for him the only thing is he is ntl and i am c$w does the box need to go into a ntl stream and download software then he brings it to me to get the ird and bk because it needs the software on it to get the bk and ird and then i can do a card for him is this correct :Cheers:

set it up for your area and extract the boxkey, the boxkey doesn't change what ever the area?

Once you've got the bk change the netid and frequency to your m8's area and ship it to them ......it'll take the update when they put it on stream and off they go......

All you need to do is send the card set up for their provider .....
