Like any battery it will lose it's charge over time, I charge mine once a month to be safe, it has 2 12 volt cigarette type sockets and several sockets at various amps to plug something in.

I think you have to top them up every 2 months or so?

Yes every 2-3 months is recommended. Mine just plugs into a USB charger, though it seems to be almost holding full charge when I do it. Better safe than sorry though.
Bought this Gooloo last year, works very and holds charge when not used. My battery on 1.4 diesel died and this started the engine straight away. I had to use regularly for a few days and did not need to charge the unit. Can also be used to charge phones.
