Hi
Had an interesting couple of weeks where my 1 series battery went flat so we charged it now my 3 series struggled to start. Luckily I had recovery but I've decided to invest in a booster pack can anyone recommend one?

Thanks!

You know what mate, ive extended battery life on a couple of cars batteries, the expensive stop start batteries with a cheap pulse repair charger.

Charged it first then left it on pulse overnight resulted in much stronger starts and so far so good.

@Ferret a slow trickle charge is the best way, not only does it fully charge battery it actually extends the battery life.

Maybe but the science behind pulse charging is fast intermittent voltage inputs at variable voltage levels.

What this allegedly does is release materials stuck to the plates in the battery.

Does it work ? All i know is my £250 stop start battery was on its arse even after a standard charge, its 10 years old and on its way out. Pulse repair overnight and its definitely improved it to the point stop start kick in again and its not done that since last March.

It will get a new battery before next winter though.

Would you guys go 10amp or 8 amp charger? Appreciate that the 10amp charger charges quicker but if Im trickle or pulse charging anyway time isnt really a factor?

And just as a curve ball why does choosing stuff in life have to be so difficult :D I go into the shops for a tube of toothpaste and am stood there looking at all the different brands and types not sure which to go for - I JUST WANT SOME TOOTHPASTE :D:D

First thing I turn off when I get in the car is stop start followed by lane assist.

Same I absolutely hate start stop dont have lane assist but if I did Im sure it would be off also. Annoying that you cant program these to remain off if you choose to (I think you can get a mapping done but Im not prepared to pay).

Lane assist is permanently off on mine.

As for the stop start yeah i turn it off normally but since March ive not needed to as it knows the battery is on its arse.

Since the repair/pulse charge it kicks in if i forget to turn if off.

£250 for a new battery it can wait a bit 😁 Its having the same Battery though Vatar they must be decent to do 10 years. My old cars usually get passed around the family so it will do another 10 😆

Any reason you guys can think of that I wasnt able to jump off my 1 series to my 3? Ive got some decent 16mm cables which state they should be able to handle it (says up to 2.5 litre)

Did you go black from good battery to earth strap on the car with dead battery ?

I take it your 1 series was running and being revved by someone whilst you tried to start the 3 series ?
If so then I don't know, sorry.

I went from the 1 series (battery ok) negative connector under the bonnet to the negative connector under the bonnet of the 3 series same with positive. 1 series was running (didnt rev it) and then tried to start 3 series. Matey came along with his jump pack and she started first time.
