If its a new system and you have nothing on just wipe it with a new OS always a good thing when you get a second hand computer anyway

PS Unless your nosey like me and like to recover old files dig some dirt up lmao

it has over six gig of porn on it emails ect and it wont boot from cd thats y i wanted to get to bios

You could try removing the Cmos battery to clear the bios password. otherwise you can contact Dell and they will tell you how to do it.

Dell Inspiron BIOS Password Recovery

Each Dell Inspiron has a master password which will clear the BIOS password. You can get this number by calling Dell Technical Support at (800)624-9896.
Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of your Inspiron.
If you were not the original owner of the Inspiron, Dell will transfer registration of the used Inspiron from the original owner with only the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the tag on the laptop.
To transfer the registration of a used Dell Inspiron, fill out the Transfer of Ownership form on Dell's web site.

One thing I can say Dells XP PRO Bios Is totally crap im shite at computers and even I was gutted there wasnt more options in there.

Follow Jaffa's advise in Post #4.

I used to work for Dell m8.
It may take a few days before they can do it, but you'll need to prove your ownership of the machine before they will assist.

Also, if you transfer ownership, then any warranty/recall issues will be dealt with quicker.

Alternatively...mail the original owner for the pwd?

people dont want to wait a few days the lad is wanting a quick way to wipe the lappy and put a new OS on surely theres better advice then waiting for dell to help him

???????????????????????????

How about attaching the lappy hard drive to another system formatting it and loading a new OS im shite at computers but if someone suggested contacting dell and waiting for support id spu my ring isnt this a site full of computer wizzards surely someone can help the kid clean a hard drive and install a new OS

im sure where theres a will theres a way

achoo contact DELL the will help you but it might take a few days lol:puke::puke:

Ahhhh so you were one of those cnuts...lol

Wee jojke seedy as I have never had any dealings with Delll. Does seem like the most sensible option though.

I was one of the "Gold" Business support bod's when they moved over to Glasgow (near where RABP stays), from Cherrywood (Dublin).
We dealt with Optiplex, Latitude, Poweredge, Printers, TV's etc.

The people working on the bog-standard-pond life home users were based in India :)
Mostly Inspiron & Dimensions.

I can't knock Dell, they provided some of the best training I've ever experienced in a job.

I even used this so-called experience to get myself a free replacement 17" WUXGA LCD which was a couple of years out of warranty :)

@ femalelizzard.

Listen bud...we're trying to help here.

By your own admission, you say you're $hite at computers, you won't get an arguement here m8.

XP Pro BIOS
Got news for you m8...
The BIOS has bugger all to do with XP.
(oops, just seen Adam's post)

Put what the hell you want on the HD, but the issue remains that the BIOS is still locked.

Just to bring this back on track...
The OP has XP installed & can access it.
His prob is that he's locked out of the BIOS

The solution is in Post number #4
OR
Contact the seller.
