I have bought a computer that has an integrated wireless network card, and is sat near a cable/modem feed. I have another pc connected to the NTL modem in another room. Question is, which is the best way to go :-

1. Buy a wireless router for around 30 quid
or
2. Buy a modem off freebay for 10-15 quid and mod it - never done a modem, only a sammy.

I reckon both will give me the same result, surf access, 1 will be a bit dearer and slower & 2 will be cheaper/faster but more pain --- heeellllppppp pls.

If you already have a cable modem feed then you may as well buy a wireless router, then you will have the advantages of sharing resources like files or printers. you are looking more at £60 + for a new wireless router, try linksys or dlink as they are easy to configure and robust. I would stay clear from belkin
