Cod, it's a no brainer for me, but finding fresh cod in a chippy isn't easy these days unless you're near the sea.

i worked in chippy's for yrs ..the boss just bought whatever was the cheapest. so now i never eat fish from a chippy but fresh batterd haddock has got to be the 1

I like haddock and plaice now and then, but the best fish I ever ate bar none,was at a chippy in wales,a piece of cod caught that day it was lovely.

Where in Southend ?

I'm actually going there tomorrow and used to go to Tridents (I think), green sign opposite the sealife centre but quality last year was not great, prices have gone up and portions gone down. The one in adventure island is not to bad.

The only good thing is that even crap fish and chips taste great on the seafront.

Cod or Haddock for me, both are nice. I like smoked battered haddock aswell but it doesnt like me...plays hell with me guts.....roud:
