I think it was @Rat

I set up a usergroup promotion yesterday badly and forgot the initial usergroup to promote from (registered).

It now made every member of the forum a secondary usergroup of registered 5.

Which is not ideal lol, I was sure I set the usergroup...

Anyway I will just delete that usergroup and remake it later and it will be fine.

But the answer is no you will never see adverts - unless I cock something up
