In sound setting the only option that i get is digital audio spdif. Any ideas where i am going wrong.

thanks

The headphone input, as you put it, is an output.

What is model of your PC?

What is model of your TV?

What is it exactly you want to achieve?

Hi guys

thanks for reply. My t.v is Sony KDLV4000

I have connected PC to t.v via vga cable. Using aux cable to from pc to headphone input in t.v does not seem to work. also connected another cable aux cable from pc to the left and right of t.v. this does not work as well.

There are two KDL-**V4000 models coming up on the Sony website, a 37" and a 40".

You need to use the 3.5mm port next to the VGA socket on the back of the TV:

  • 40"

Using the headphone socket on the side of the TV will not give you sound over the TV's speakers.

If you have connected to the correct 3.5mm socket, you need to make sure the PC isn't muted and that the cable you are using is working as it should.

Nice post lp.

Could also be that according to the mannual you have to set the HDMI 3 or PC to get anything from, the external euipment. It's also woth checking to see if you get sound from or to external euipment by turning off the TV's internal speakers.

Keep us posted.

Hi Guys

tried the audio cable input next to vga cable still no luck. I think the problem is to do with sound on my desktop. for some reason it did not work with some external speakers connectd and there was nothing wrong with speakers as it worked on another pc. Anyway i can check if the sound card is messed up as it picks by pc. I am usig the right aux cable as I used the same cable to connect my iphone to my aux input in car works fine there.

Go to: Start > Run > devmgmt.msc

Expand the Sound, video and game controller entry. Look for any yellow triangles with exclamation marks or grey downwards pointing arrows.

For yellow triangles you need to (re)install the drivers. Find the latest driver online and download it to your desktop. In Device Manager [right click] the sound device > uninstall. Once done you may be asked to restart your computer before changes are effected. If not either restart manually or click the Scan for hardware changes button on the toolbar; both should cause the computer to find the sound card and launch the "Found new hardware" wizard.

With grey arrows the device has been disabled, you need to reenable it before it will work: [right click] > enable

Hi

This has already been done.did not seem to solve the problem. this is really starting to irritate me now just cant seem to figure out what is wrong.

I'm assuming you are using the green coloured port (if it's not coloured it should be labelled front or line out).

If you're using onboard sound, it could be that it is disabled in the BIOS.

If it is an add-in sound card test it in another PC to make sure it's actually working.

However, as tq says, it would be handy to know the details around the PC; i.e. motherboard/base unit model (depending on self-build or pre-built). Also, if you are using a seperate sound card, which one - some need a floppy drive power connector to work correctly (e.g. the Asus Xonar DX2)

hI

its a foxconn motherboard model no 945 7MD Series

Chipset = Intel i945G/GZ

The pc was built by a friend.
