Astra to broadcast IFA highlights in 3D
SES Astra will broadcast in 3D on their 3D demo channel from the IFA, the consumer electronics show to be held in Berlin from September 3 – 8. Reception of the demo channel on Astra’s 23.5 degrees East position is possible across Europe and free-to-air.

Under the name IFA International TV, the channel will broadcast items about the latest consumer lifestyle trends from the Berlin exhibition floors. Reports will be rebroadcast every two hours, starting at 10 a.m., on the Astra 3D demo-channel in English. After the trade show closes its door on September 8, a compilation of the most important highlights will be shown until September 18.

Further to the broadcast capacity, SES Astra will also provide playout services from its playout centre in Munich, Germany. Filming and editing of the 3D content is supported by Panasonic.

“3D TV is one of the central topics for the electronics industry this year. Hence, we are pleased that the exciting new developments from the world’s most important consumer electronics and home appliances fair will be presented throughout Europe in 3D”, says Dr. Rainer Hecker, chairman of the supervisory board of gfU, the IFA organiser, in a statement
