Buying second hand goods or goods no longer wanted is fine, but if you are looking to buy new then ebay may not be the best option.
It might cost 1 or 2 pounds more to buy from ebuyer, 7 day shop or amazon but you get much better backup and peace of mind. When you order a 16gb flash drive from play.com you know it's going to be 16gb, and if you aint satisfied then you get your money back, try sorting that out with some of the low lifes on ebay when you find out you've been sold a 4gb drives dressed up as a 16gb one.
There are alternatives. Probably not as popular, but maybe less hassle.
1 alternative if you are buying gadgets and stuff is to shop around, look at sites like pandawill, chinavision, volumerates or priceangels.
The largest population on ebay by far is dropshippers, they don't hold stock but instead order from sites like those I have just listed and get the good sent direct to the customer, and adding some percentage on top for the privilege. So save some money and order direct from the Chinese suppliers yourself, they all have rates for single purchases.
Or you could try an ebay alternative, like one of these.
