are thier diffrent boxs

my friend gave is box to some guy to have it chipped all good he did do it but we just notice if a diffrent box to what he gave him he thinks i the box he gave him was a older box as it had more plug connection on the back the one he got back is a d4000 box we was just wondering if thier is a reson the guy kept is box like it better for some reason or you can do more with it and something else we would like to know is it true you cant have ppv channel now or is it the guy rubish at chiping boxs

its possible that the 4000 was one he couldn't transfer the net id and freq' to a different area so he gave you that one as for the older box that might have been able to transfer so he used it else where, I wouldn't know but this seems to be the most likely answer without knowing the model numbers and partcode numbers of both boxes.
