anyone any good with digital cameras?

hey guys
found an old olympus x42 in the cupboard. when the memory card is out its fine. when i put it in, the lens comes out then in a couple of times then goes in. ive tried formatting the micro sd card but nothing? any ideas?

are you using a micro sd to sd adaptor
if so have you tested that ?

I am, i dont really have any means of testing it? just wanted to get the camera up and running. bought one online now, waiting for it to come

Sounds like a battery issue to me.

Although not the same model mine does this when its dead (or almost)

Hi,

I would try it with a card <2 GB. Older cameras do not support SDHC. Sometimes, depending on the file system, the cards are recognized but can not be formatted or written. Your problem actually sounds like a card error.
