I am trying to get hold of a copy of my performance at the Rallyoke show from Wednesday, but they are saying that due to copyright laws they cannot let me have a copy.

Is this true or is there any way around it, eg Data Protection Act or something similar?

Hi Earwig,

I'm a musician and know that me/my band should pay royalties if we play other peoples songs to the paying public (Which we do ;)). I'm not sure why they are not releasing your performance to you, afterall it was a karaoke for charity and the BBC or whoever would have that covered?

The only thing I can think of is, that they own the rights to the footage and are not willing to part with them just incase you intent to exploite it for monetary value?

I would have thought they would have/should have gave you a copy though.
