Finally I have decided to break open my piggy bank and install a system… the receiver in my price range would be a TM 5400 CI and as for the dish stuff I have been offered 4 items from a supplier but I needed to know if they are the correct parts .. if someone out there could confirm if I have been offered the right gear I would be most grateful…..
Dish http://www.grax.co.uk/P/AllTRIAX-TD-88cm-Dish-Pole-Mount(890).aspx
Lnb http://www.grax.co.uk/P/AllTRIAX-03dB-Universal-LNB(883).aspx
Motor http://www.grax.co.uk/P/AllH-H120-Diseqc-Motor(98).aspx
Bracket http://www.grax.co.uk/P/TELEVES-Heavy-Duty-Wall-Mount(771).aspx

My first question would be the location of the dish .. there is a 4 mt gap between my house and next door and my sky dish is fixed to the my gable end set back about two metres from the front of the house so that the dish points out of the gap towards the front.
If I mount my new dish at the side of the old one how much does a motor turn a dish ?
Do they actually turn so much that you need a open area around them?
cheers

Thanks for the link i will check that one out......

cheers

hello thanks for the tip re pvr .. not relly bothered 'bout recording stuff i am a complete novice when it comes to the sat stuff so i thought i would pick a receiver that appears to be simple to set up (before football season lol) i have read loads of threads etc and that model tm5400ci kept getting good reviews ? ......... i am still abit unsure as to what a "patch" gives me and will i need a viewing card to go with the "patch".
thanks again

Current packages available using a patch are below, remeber nothing opens for ever. Soon these apckages will change to nagravision 3 and will not be open. The only guarantee is to buy a card.

Thanks fearona. much appreciated.
i think i will go ahead and order my kit and keep my fingers crossed that the patches keep stuff open for a bit longer yet ...

Firstly the lnb you've chosen is a 0.3db and you're going for an 88cm dish.
If you're wanting some of the Bolton games on Turksat you'd be better of with a 1M dish, plus a 0.2 db lnb will give you more signal/less loss.

I went for all Technomate gear.
I've got an Orbital 1M dish, Technomate TM2 twin lnb, TM2200 motor and a TM6900 HD reciever.

Also the dish will twist, rather than spin round. You'll also need to make sure that you have line of sight to the other sats as well as your existing sky dish.
Have a look at dishpointer.

Cheers Curly ...ok i will spend some more pocket money and go for the 1 Mt dish if it means that i get more option on the footy, season kicks off soon so i want to get it up and working asap.... have you got yours up and running yet or are you worried that you will block out the sunlight from your street ........

Got the bracket up but then realised that the lnb would hit the roof (not to mention Mrs Curly when she sees it) so had to get hold of a longer scaffold pole. Got one today so should be game on this weekend.

Mine is going on a north facing wall so that gives me extra problems, but keeps it out of sight.
