Do you mean Homebrew Channel?

If so what System Menu are you currently running?

Also what will you be using the Channel for?

hi mate 4.3 to really just to run games from a portable hard disk

This guide is what you need :)

Nintendo Wii 4.3 Softmod Guide

If you ever update your Wii to a newer System Menu (won't be for ages yet) you will probably have to re-softmod your Wii. But there will probably be no point it upgrading anyway.

As for loading games via USB I suggest using WiiFlow :)

Yes you will need to fully softmod as your chip only influences you optical drive.
