Whats the easiest way to add srt sub file to a MKV video file. I can do it within VLC ok but want to watch movie on tv....

It will depend on the player you have on your TV. In most cases you can out the subtitles file in the smaller efolder as the movie and both have the same name but different extension.

If that does not work you will have to add the subtitles to the movie using a converter like handbrake.

You may need to hardcode the subs depending on the player on your tv

On your TVs you may also have to enable the subs using your remote when playing the movie through your TVs player. As grimeire mentioned make sure the sub file has the same file name as the movie but different extensions. That used to work on my old Panasonic tv. I have also used mkvmerge but is called mkvtoolnix now. It’s free and work well.
