5.1 sound won't work

hello,

here with another brain teaser....

i have 5.1 on board sound and it's set correct in the settings, i can even test it using the software and it go's front left......blah blah blah....but it just won't play mp3's etc 5.1 ??

any ideas

Hmm..what player you using for your mp3's? I know I had to fiddle with winamp to get it to play back using my 5.1's, in prefernaces, output, direct sound, configure...

You will probably find most mp3's are stereo not 5.1, its mainly aimed at films.

There may be a setting for virtual 5.1 to emulate it.

it used to work with real player and also the new 5.1 win amp....

here's a few settings

Supports sample rates from 44100 Hz to 48000 Hz (continuous)
Hardware memory: N/A
Hardware mixing: unsupported
Speaker setup: 5.1

if this helps.

i can run a shitty little program, sound manager that you can click on like padded cell ( i think i need ) etc etc, and the back speakers come on ?

I'd set emulated to yes and as red devil said all your woes should be gone.
