me again guys..

so playing theese .mkv files in media player or vlc but unable to get 5.1 sound.

if i use power dvd for say the bourne supremacy HD (.ts file) i can get 5.1 sound no problem. but as power dvd wont play .mkv i have to use the other players.

my sound output is realtek HD audio through SPDIF to a digital amp.

have told media player my speaker setup is 5.1 but nothing

in vlc i choose spdif as audio out and i get stuck sound like a cd skipping.?

anybody with a similar setup have this working??

sorry for such a long post....

playing these fine on an xp2500+ with 512mb ram.
you need haali media splitter and coreavc 1.2
haali is available from free-codecs.com or anywhere core avc is available from newsgroups, torrents etc. uninstall any codec packs you may have (klite, cccp, ffdshow etc)

below is all I have installed on my system - everything is played back with MCE 2005.

koepis Xvid
Ac3 filter (SPDIF passthrough)
haali
coreavc
Nvidia purevideo
Divx 5.02??

Once youve got coreavc and haali installed, media player will tell you it doesn't recognise mkv - tell it to try anyway - and it will work fine.

If ever you download wmv-hd content and want your amp to output 5.1 you can use AC3 filter to convert the wma HD5.1 to PCM 5.1 and then into AC3 5.1 on the fly. Works a treat

thank you buddy.

i created the dvd by santa but i dont get 5.1 on my dvd player.
On display it show 2.1.
