I would agree,
but only because if you are going to use the forum to post all this info and recruit people to help, and then when you have got all you need, revert to pm's,that just seems wrong to me tbh

and me, goes against the ethos if you ask me

But if it does contain something nasty, it will only cause problems if and when a hacker decides to use your PC. Or maybe I'm just over paranoid... :S

Valid point. Your PC may be at risk without you knowing it. It is so hard to tell, as AVG etc. are known to throw up false-positives.
If you're not sure either (1) use an old, offline PC that has nothing sensitive on it and / or (2) uninstall the s/w when you've finished with it & scan whole PC with malwarebytes or the like.
Nothing wrong with a bit of paranoia these days sadly.

Hi again guys, I still wonder if many subscribers to this thread have actually lost track of what this thread was actually intended for by the starter of the thread?

Was it not simply for the method by which we need to follow to open the BBC etc channels on 27.5W?
e.g. Biss keys, Vpids, etc etc

Yet, as already pointed out once before, we seem to be in the depths of what appears to be MUCH more than just that original intention?

Surely the answer would have been to start a brand NEW thread with all this very 'technical' and other discussion - to enable those who need to read the 'simpler' aspects as posted originally - even though even at THAT time it did seem VERY complicated to many of we ordinary satellite enthusiasts - as a new thread would allow those involved in this 'other' line of investigation to continue without confusion?

Just a 'thought' you understand!

Gone to the pub!
Seems to me that everyone is happy to use all these biss keys and softcam keys that others find and release to view channels.
Trouble starts when members start to try and find them theirselves, they dont want to share them if they find them.
So seems all take and no give.

Yes and thats true too mate, but I'm not getting into all that, but simply making the point that this thread has somewhat diversified away from the original post of 'how to set up BBC TV etc on 27.5W by our friend xxxxxx' - and is now getting to a point that it should be in a totally NEW thread - IMOH?

You have totally misunderstood what has been going on here.

1/ The motivation behind looking for the key using members here was precisely so that we would NOT be parasites simply waiting for the key to be found elsewhere and then using it.

2/ The reason for switching to private messages was to reduce the "noise" level. It is widely considered that the more people are seen to be looking for the key and the more widely it is visible in the public domain once found then the more frequently the broadcaster will change it.

3/ I deliberately implied that it would be necessary to participate in the search in order to gain access to the key in order to encourage the maximum participation. CW Finder takes a long time to search and we needed the maximum number of participants. I am sure, had we found the key, the group would have been happy to share it privately with other individuals in a discreet and quiet way.

The reality is that there are one or two individuals with powerful graphics cards running CudaBISS (or similar) who are always likely to be the first to find the key. This is brilliant news for everyone and I would like to publicly thank the person that found it. As I said earlier, the motivation of our little project here was to do our little bit and not simply lye back and rely on the efforts of these power users. Ask your self how many people are using the new key who didn't bother to contribute anything to the search.

The first post in this thread simply lists the channels and mentions the '8280' PhantomPatch code to gain access to the BISS menu. It makes no indication of where the OP expects the tread to go after that.

While your there ask how many use the other biss keys and softcams, without also contributing anything to finding them ;)

Yes mate, quite so, but I still believe our comrade xxxxxx was simply wanting to explain 'how' to set up BBC etc 27.5W via 8280 with 'existing' Biss keys at that time etc etc - and certainly NOT how its now turned out with pages and pages of useful info to the minority few who are REALLY interested, but not to many others who simply want to know how to set it all up in the FIRST place - hope you see what I mean - its honestly not a serious criticism here, but just making a point/suggestion - and thats why I still believe that the small group of posters who are intent on using other software etc etc to presumably obtain/calculate new keys as & when, really maybe ought to be doing it in another thread - as interesting though some of it may be to the rest of us, its much more interesting to that small group of intelligentia (there, that's a real compliment?) in a different 'specialist' thread?:Biggrin2:

@holmroad

I tend to agree with you about the original intent of this thread and what it has now spiralled into,

If you could advise where in your opinion I should separate the two please?

TIA

Thanks mate, not trying to rock any boats here, but just feel its become totally disjointed and confusing here - but on the other hand how on earth can you segregate the 'key compilation/sourcing' posts and the 'BBC TV on 27.5W set up details' as outlined at the start and even also at times 'during' this mega long winded thread mate?

Wonder if you can maybe segregate into the ORIGINAL heading with posts about 'setting up' BBC TV etc channels on 27.5W (VPIDs, APIDS, etc etc too)' - and another thread headed 'Calculation/extraction of BBC TV etc channels on 27.5W Biss Keys'

Its just that many of the posts run into each other, so not sure quite how you CAN separate them!

Thanks for your suggestion though, much appreciated!!

Just my 2 cents here if your going to create a Thread specifically for just Calculation/Extraction of a Biss key then why not go the whole hog and create a Biss key section as the method used here is used on every BISS encoded channel going.

So even if the posts are sorted into relevant threads then you will have questions in the so called calculation thread for 27.5° west for other keys for other channels so to speak.

My own personal opinion on this is leave as is everything discussed from start to Finnish on this thread has been relevant to obtaining the Biss key for the BBC Channels on 27.5° west

Seems like a good idea mate, except it would have to be a 'Biss Keys Discussion' section, as keys maybe shouldn't really allow 'discussion' within them?
So there would need to be TWO new sections?

All I'm trying to do is separate the initial "How to receive the BBC Channels on 27w using the Biss keys" from the ensuing how to acquire new biss keys when needed,

If people show an interest in using the same methods to find other biss keys then we can always revisit it then :)

The edge.
you would have to be VERY carefull with what you say, as you would be openly discussing how to activley bypass a secure encryption system, thus avoiding payment for access to services, which end users would not be permitted to decode, which, in most parts of the world, is illegal. Keep things to PM, and let those who cannot do it for themselfs, wait untill a 'public' fix is released for them.

for the record, I have no way of finding BISS keys, but it IS something id like to do, just for the idea of being able to do it, but i dont have the hardware required. a LOT of people have the hardware in their PCs to do it, but they simply dont want to do it, they just want the 'fix', even though i have no use for these keys, i'd still like to 'break' one, even a known one, myself

In this particular instance the main discussion was how to obtain the key, not how to use it to bypass encryption, but bypassing encryption is openly discussed on this and many other forums everyday, so whats the solution?

Do we go completely underground?

We would have to move a lot of threads if that was the case lol and Mick wouldnt be happy as his seo stuff would suffer :)
