2 modems

Can i run 2 modems from one cable , i.e. main incoming cable that runs thru a splitter then a patch lead to each modem. 1st modem would run desktop and 2nd modem would be connected to a wireless sender like the la fonera(its in freebies section) can i just connect both modems up without altering any settings etc.
It seem the easy way to get wireless for daughters lappy and i got the fonera equip free .

is it cable or bt? ive managed to run several modems and tv boxes of 1 line successfully using only splitters on cable. just be sure to use to use a good quality balanced splitter with a good db balancer

What would be a good quality splitter?
I've ordered a Konig Splitter 5-2400 MHz, any good?
