2 gig mem stick

Hello, I am trying to watch a film on my 360 via a 2 gig usb stick, the xbox recognizes the usb device but it can't see the *.avi. I copied a film over to the memory sticks root directory and can't understand why it can't see it.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think the 360 doesn't play divx or xvid files. I think you can only play Windows Media Video (.WMV) files on the 360.

There are tools around that let you stream DIVX movies to your 360 over the network and encode them on the fly (eg. TVersity). Or you can use some kind of convertor to convert from .avi to .wmv and try playing that on the 360.

That is correct, 360 will not play an AVI - only WMV.
