16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem error

Hi, Im trying the install new software. But each time go through installation I get this error message 'The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications' & gives me option to IGNORE or QUIT. Tried both options NO sucess. Can some help!

Forgot to mention I am using WINDOW XP PRO oparating system.

Assume you have stopped it using Task Manager?

Is it quite an old program? XP doesn't run on an MS-DOS platform like Windows 95 and 98 did.

Try under VirtualPC or VMWare ?

Hi KRIS, Program i am trying to install is fairly new. Its called ELSAWIN (release date is: 2006). Wierd thing is i have managed to get it working on another computer with the same operating system. I might just have to re format & install windows xp again.
