CoolTVGuide Help

Thanks Abu and others, I now have the bouquets marker and it looks there are some settings that might need to be changed please further assist will be appreciated.

I am considering another receiver which one of these would you recommend as a much better receiver; TM-Nano 3T and Vu+ Duo2 (most interested features, recording 2 channels while watching another and mobile screaming over the internet)

With regards to recording, don't think about number of chanenls, think about transponders. Receiver can comfortably 5 channels per transponder per tuner. This applies to most receivers including single tuner ones.

You'll need to establish which channels you're going to routinely recording/viewing and make a decision based on the transponders they are on. There was a very good description by another member recently which went into great detail about the issue.

Simple way to put it.
Number of tuners required = number of transponders required.

If the channels you require are on Terrestrial, you can get USB tuners fairly cheaply. If the recordings are routine, they can be done on one receiver and shared with others in the house.

The 3T combo has a total of three tuners, one Hybrid (Cable/Terrestrial) and two satellite. All three are soldered onto the motherboard. You cannot change them.

Some receivers do transcoding by software, others by hardware. Hardware is better. But, you can achieve the stream over the net by a Sling box too. The Sling boxes are designed for this purpose.

Satlelite receivers were not designed with internet security in mind. Some people incorrectly forward ports to their receiver and malicious people gain access via it to all devices on home network.

The Nano 3T combo does not do transcoding (compress video stream to smaller size) to make streaming over the internet smoother. So if the streaming over the net is essential, this may not be teh receiver for you.

The Duo2 has pluggable tuners. Complication is they only have two slots. You'll need to factor the cost of twin tuner modules into the equation before deciding. The transcoding works on it.

You may wish to consider the Gigablue Quad Plus, Mutant HD2400, Xtrend 8000/85000/10000, Miiraclebox Premium.

You can spend about £400 to achieve what you want. Or you can spend about £40 (Sling box and USB tuner) and still do it.

So in conclusion, there is no conclusion, I hope I did not add too much confusion. Some matters my require elucidation before you make a decision.

Thanks Rat, Abu and others for all the support I got from you guys.
