When exactly did you purchase and was the image pre-flashed for you?

please dont think any one here is bullying you as that is not the case, if you have received the ViX-TM beta image on a new machine, the fault lies with the retailer who should not have passed this machine onto you in the first place, as that image while working and as stable as any other currently in circulation is not finished and as such does not offer a true reflection of the ViX-TM image as a finished product. The ViX-TM beta image is written for people who know their way around the image and it is not built for functionality but merely to test certain features and additions before moving on to a new "improved" build. also be aware that the current ViX-TM beta images use a set of driver files and bootloaders which have been specifically written for us by the Technomate support team and as such may not function correctly or at all if you flash another image over the top.

Before this gets out of control again, here is what i think is happening, which months ago i said WOULD happen

at technomate, before the receiver is sent out, i know they have a fetish for ensuring everything is as good as can be, and this will include flashing whatever image is the latest at the time onto the receiver. they will run it through a few tests, then flash it back to the latest public iQ image, BUT, as the latest image they used to test the receiver was probably a ViX beta image, complete with the splash screen, when the older image is flashed onto the receiver, the newer splash screen remains

the first thing the end user sees is the ViX splash screen, and links it to being a ViX image

untill the end user can post EXACTLY what is contained in the Menu/Information/About screen, we could al be kicking up a stink, over nothing, which could do irrepairable damage to the ViX-TM relationship

Just because its a ViX splash screen DOES NOT mean that the actual image ON the receiver is the ViX beta image, is just means that at some point, it HAS been on that receiver for testing purposes

I may post a screen grab of both the iQ openvix based image, and the actual ViX beta image (compiled by myself for own 'having a look' purposes, DO NOT PM me for it as i will not reply) so people can see the difference and simply say 'i have screen 1 (or 2)'

I asked lata in post 5 to check the about screen

Well, well, well what a different attitude this time?

If I were you I'd phone TM tomorrow and get tech help they will tell you how to load
all drivers, and sit tight with what you've got

so reading between the lines you did have the ViX image on when you asked for help a few weeks ago

im trying to get screen grabs, but, so far, all ive managed to do is brick my receiver (again) lol

I've been on trial once, found not guilty
All I am trying to do is help out
And the best thing to do is ask where it was purchased from
As the image is not being changed till tomorrow (working day he should be able to get help)
If he does as you are suggesting and bricks it
How would he stand with supplier??

All I am saying is that it is a new box supplied with an image from manufacturer
and if he/her is not sure what they are doing is seek Technical help from retailer
before changing anything, surely that's not a suggestion to start an argument?
Otherwise any guarantee might be invalid

but as you have been helped can you not offer advice ?

Just post a screenshot whilst on a about page and that will clear everything up, if you dont know how to get screenshot just ask, iirc once your on about page your can goto http://yourlocalip/grab

tbh I think he has said it all and we have been here before with another member
but please post a screenshot to quieten down the doubters lol

The Vix splash screens DO NOT have the version numbers on them so the fact OP has quoted v2.4 surely means he read it from the about page. Personally I think the user should phone TM and give them a bollocking because the iQ supplied drivers are fookin useless compared to even their own previous images. HTF could a retail manufacturer release a product with not only a beta image on it, but something they know they haven't got permission to hand out?!

Of course it's possible they simply forgot to reflash the IQ image before selling it..

& when they say, direct from TM. Do they mean via post (which could've come through a 3rd party retailer) or direct via TMs sales desk..?

Whatever happened, TM and VIX will no doubt be in conference this week..

Im really sorry to say I cannot help you as it seems there is s special way ot overwrite this image ? I dont know as Ive never used this

if nobody can give you advice by tomorrow I think it might be a good idea to contact TM and ask for a solution or replacement box with a working image

please keep us informed of what happens mate as it will help others the next time this happens
