TM Twin oe will new image 29/03/2012

This is the way I have my Twin set up. Since the begining i liked this box. What I have recently used up to now is A TM 6900 Super, TM 7100 Triple, TM800HD, DM800se clone and a TM 5402 HD so that is what I am comparing it with. I never had a VU so cant compare it with that but would love to. I think the Twin is excellent and have grown to really like it. If it keeps going in the same direction it will become very popular

Boot time from cold start is 1 min 55 secs. Channel zapping averages out at about 1 second which is very quick. Picture quality is top class as you always get from TM receievers. The main epg works well i use that one but in the past have used cool epg which works well also. Timers for recording can be set easily from the epg or just simply import a timer. See Screenshots.

I use the easy media plugin to handle most off what I use daily, Its a handy little plug in that can be installed simply pressing Blue, press IQ packet, then extensions then easy media.

I have mapped the yellow button on the remote so on long press will bring me to the following on screen menu.

Simply scroll to the one you want and select it. It is totally customizable for what you like best.

So far I have tested AVI, MKV, movies on this image and have had no problems. FF/RW/Pause all work. When watching live TV pause also works well.
The remote has a facility to enable you to control your TV also. Skins are a bit thin on the ground at present as a lot off them will need some recoding to work on this box. So far i have used The default and also Vix NightHD which is very nice. Over all performance is very stable and solid. I have not had a single crash with this image. I have tried 3 different models off HDD and it recognized all off them so far, two 3.5 inch sata and one 2,5 inch sata. Streaming is working ok I have tried it in a browser and also using Dream streamer I could certainly recommend this box with no problems at all. There are many other features i have not mentioned.Another positive is you are buying a box thats has its headquarters in the UK so if something should go wrong its easily sorted as opposed to buying in china etc. Looks like TM will do well with this box and not before time.

Ive not tried this as yet but all looks good :)

Thanks for this cuebase, some nice ideas you mentioned there. Incidentally, how are you getting such good screen grabs there? I need to do something similar soon, to help illustrate some issues...

Using web browser on PC enter IP address of receiver, got to box control. On the lefthand side you can then take screen grabs. There are three types. If you take OSD only, you will have to cut them down to size as they capture blank space too.

The send message to box is a cool feature too.

Doh!! Thanks, abu-baniaz. I've actually used that feature to see what's on screen whilst working upstairs - didn't think to use that! Good job I'm more innovative than that in my day job! ;)

Have you not tried using the web tv? You can actually watch a completely different channel to what is on the screen.

personally i prefer to use a telnet session to get my screen grabs. using the following two commands.

Screen Grabs/Dumps

grab -o -p /tmp/grab.png [change grab to the file name you want it to be]
grab -d -p /tmp/grab.png [change grab to the file name you want it to be]

your png files will be sent to /tmp retrieve via FTP

One creates a frab of the current tv program and the osd the other just grabs the osd.

Yeah, I've tried that. It's really cool! It would be perfect if I could play it on the iPad, but heh.

Phoenix, that's cool too. Now I have more than one option. :)

even easier way that I use on dreambox, put your box's ip address into your computers browser ie 192.168.0.2 then add /grab ie. 192.168.0.2/grab

indeed but you get a better quality image if generated directly on the receiver it self, you can also stipulate the image format via a telnet session.

.

The images you have included and the menus all look very like the VIX images for VU+Duo running the daylight skin hd

edogg

That's because it's based on Open VIX

yes as pointed out this image is based on the openViX source which is why it contains the ViX Day HD skin etc etc. The IQ team also had direct access to a number of our early 2.3 beta images.
