[TM-Twin-OE] Feedback

I have trade my 6900hd pvr to this model after seeing what it does in the shop. excellente . I am new to this type of reciever. does anyone knows if ushare works. I have it has xbox360 support and dlna. I have tried it on my sony bravia dlna. its comming up unsupported format?? the streeam works ok on my laptop.

I thought trad in was just for TM800 owners ?
or do you mean you ungraded to the twin ?

I see :) did you part exchange it then or buy the twin ?

Only just seen this thread so i will add my very lazy review as im just in from work and im knackered.

The tm twin oe is at this point a very good reciever but not without the odd niggle as with most linux based recievers. However iq team seem to have turned a corner with images coming thick and fast with things actualy getting sorted out and the end user is being listened to.

The box is fast and snappy and updates can be applied easily via usb, you simply turn the box off insert usb stick containing the update and power on the box will find the update and you simply press ok to update.

channel changing is quick although there is a small bug were sometimes the now and next does not update untill you change to a different channel and back again.

recording, fast forwarding rewinding and pausing all work flawlessly from what ive tried. Ive recorded series without a hitch, rocording one channel while watching another works perfectly too.

The fan on the box is too noisy but it is supposed to be controllable via the settings however at this time i dont think it is working.

The vfd is nice and bright, the box displays date and time when in standby which is nice.

I use xml tv importer with rytec uk xml as my source and it works perfectly.

Skins are sparse at this time but i believe they will come with further images especialy once other teams get involved.

Everything i use the box for and have tested really do work well, there are small bugs here and there that need to be ironed out and i would like to see permenant time shift added. The twin is light years ahead of the tm-800hd and im sure people who exchange for this box will be glad they did.

If this reciever had been as bad as the tm-800hd i would be telling you so.
This is my review i say as i see and im not in tm or iqs pocket.

Hows this for lazy then??

I could not have worded this better, other than I have recorded multiple channels at once, and I think the mytube plugin is superb although a bit tricky to work out at first.

The fan does work ok and has variable speed set by software. It's too noisy for some on it's lowest setting so iQ will be changing the lower threshold in future images. There is a bug crept in though. On the fan control page there are 2 sliders... 1 for fan speed while box is on and 1 for fan speed when in standby. You can still change the speed of the fan for standby but the slider doesn't update itself.

At the moment however you can actually turn both fans off completely and operating temperature is still fine. I'm not sure how stable that would be in the summer months however as ambient room temperatures rise..... only time will tell I guess unless DigiDude wants to do one of his black bag and hair dryer test :)

Yeah it's a bit of a head scratcher. Not sure if it's just a skin issue or plugin itself but when you get it going it's bloody good.

Is this the thing were you have to exit the plug in and only then you get the search option? If so yeah it's rather odd.

To record multiple channels im asuming they have to be on the same transponder? OR can you record one channel on one tuner, record a second on the other tuner and watch a third?

Yes that's the one. Depending on the skin you have the search box is then covered as well so you have to type your search entry blindly! Pain in the arse but worth the fuffing about with. I wonder if it does it on other boxes?
