I already have 1 of their boxes that doesn't do what it says on the box.
They could be £50 I still wouldn't waste my money on it unless it was proven to work as it should.

You already have the TM-Twin or talking about another box?

I believe you are only as good as your last mess up.
So for me I wouldn't touch another new box from tm, it would have to be proven to work.

their closed source receivers (tm1000, 5000, 6000, 7000 series) are brilliant

the hardware of their linux receivers is also top notch

its their linux software 'team' that is destroying their reputation. numerous people have handed them fixes on a plate, and its been ignored. unless their team does something, then nothing gets done, now this is broadcom based, with any luck, iq/ur can be bypassed all together by teams who actually know what the end user wants, instead of a hundred pin protected sections just for traders etc

Why would a team make an image if there is nothing in it for them? Inevitably, it will be left for enthusiasts/hobbyists to do so.

TM really need to accept the fact that without functioning software, having top notch, uk based, non clone hardware does not matter. A clone that does what it is meant to do is better than an original which doesn't. (I was going to say can't, but this would be incorrect)

To repair the damage done to their "linux based" reputation will take time. The pivotal issue is them finally having a working image that does not have bolt ons or extra temporary hardware that circumvents the faults on the receiver. Condescending remarks on forums and suggesting that the box is only for watching do not help.

TM should continue to provide support for existing linux receivers and stop the development of other linux receivers.
They should concentrate on close source receivers and support them well.

The hardware is not top notch, dont know where people get that idea. Just take a look at the TM800 it uses a NXP chipset which was never designed or tested to run Linux in a STB setup...Jimux has advised it's usage was intended as an integrated chipset for TV sets with built in Satellite tuners.
So what exactly is top notch about that ? Your hardware should be fit for purpose, i,e: tried and tested for the environment your releasing it into (in this case proven to be able to run Linux and Engima 2 with full functionality).
So both the hardware and software on TM Linux recievers so far is crap... Not to mention they still cant get CCCam server working properly on TM500/600/Super...so theyre still inferior in functionality to discontinued DM models / cheaper clones. Doesnt look very top notch to me from any angle...

Any form of Linux software will never be 100% complete. More chance of finding unicorn turds lol.

From what I've seen though, its looking good.

Ive heard they could go on sale from next week or the week after :)

You must have one set up then Digidude?

how else would i test software before technomate even knows it exists lol

i also have a unicorn out the back and a leprechaun in the loft lol
