Thats a strange thing to advise download a Dream DM800HD manual... because "Pli have been used few Linux receivers also TM-800 please use above link to help you to set up"... PLI is not the standard image on DM recievers. So theres nothing useful in the DM800HD manual in terms of PLI...theres info on the standard base E2 image and how to navigate menus, flash with DreamUP etc..This flash process and the software tools used are not relevant to the TM800 ...

Another typical TM special, looks like theyre too lazy to bother writing their own user manual...

It's a very strange document all through. But it does give an insight into TM thinking. Especially the instructions on setting up an internal hard disk. Clearly any though of them resolving the sata issue has passed. But there is now a software alternative.

Some good work that is on the SATA issue, so any make/mode/size or internal disc should now work correctly with the software solution ? Just a shame TM/IQ/UR/DS etc etc...couldnt provide the relevant user support to make this happen .

Sorry guys, recently bought my first TM800 (now wishing I hadn't) and I'm having some issues getting an internal sata drive working. Whats the noted problems and if possible are there available fixes??

you can fix it by software or send an email to tm they will send you free USB adaptor
they sent me one free
my 500gb internal hard disk works ok now

But beware that the Technomate 'solution' takes up one of your two usb slots.

There are two broad problems with the internal HDD.
1. Not all HDDs are detected, even some of the ones supplied by TM
2. The components being used on the circuit board do not have fully functional drivers. This means that even if you have a HDD that is detected by the "mobo", the communication to/from the HDD is not optimum. You then get bad recordings.

External HDDs have always worked.

The solution from TM, which was meant to be TEMPORARY, is to basically use a circuit board from an external caddy and change the USB end so that it connects to the motherboard. To facilitate this, the front USB is disconnected. You now have an external HDD fitted internally which uses separate drivers from the hardware on the board. Time shift will still not work. If you want to watch a movie on a usb drive or flash an image, you will have to mess around with the rear or just leave an extension lead plugged in. The proper solution was to get the chip manufacturer to provide adequate drivers. Unfortunately, this route does not seem to have been taken. The Andromeda images had/have the ability to use hubs and see different devices.

As TM are digital partners for life, they will send/sell you the adapter. They are very helpful. I would recommend using the phone rather than sending an email.

Regarding the software solution, could someone post more details about it. Does it fix the issue of showing available space to be minus 1mb?

Is that an internal usb drive or an internal SATA drive?

2.5 sata drive using the "temporary" fix usb adapter or software as in the thread you posted in.
