I had a long chat with Technomate today, they said those who have serious problems with there internal Sata HDD can email them and they will send you a USB external adapter Free Of Charge

might be a good idea to say you got the infomation from DigitalWorldz

I hope they do not consider that a substitute for fixing the problem.

that wasn't the impression I got Jimux, but I couldn't say 100% lol

they was saying how they want to keep customers happy and taking on board what they have read on here

so in some respects they are listening :)

i use the rear port for silent usb storage, and dont really fancy a wire poking out of the front of the receiver and disapearing round the back

what i find most annoying though, is that it took AGES to get the internal drive PVR functions working, then when they did work, a lot of people created a backup image, so they could go back to a working image, then 'something' happened to the images, and it stopped working again, but, after this, even if you go back to your image that used to work, that now no longer works either

TBH (and after looking at and working with the source code) i think UR team should scrap the lot, start by creating working drivers for the hardware (or get them from NXP) then implement linux, then enigma, but most importantly, keep the code for the TM800 ONLY!!! which would make finding (and more importantly, FIXING) and bugs, a hell of a lot easier

Hey DIGIDUDE why does not UR Team and TM does not listen to you man you are one of the people that i have see in this forum that are willing to help and you do have a solution for every thing so TM should pay you for that man if they don't they hey do not want to improve their box. this is what i think of TM.

nah m8, i dont have all the answers, compared to a lot of people, im a linux newbie, ive only been playing with compiling for about a year or so

TM can only release the software that UR supplies them with, so i imagine its even more fustrating for TM as people like us are screaming at them, they scream at UR, and UR ignores it and instead brings out another image with even more password protected stuff lol

You are right Dude, Technomate are as much a victim as we are, but must take project management responsibility. The real frustration is the way UR have ignored problems once they were made aware of them by me and others back in August 2010.

Acknowledgement is the first step towards resolution.

The solutions have been supplied by the 2% category. It is up to TM to demand some proper service from UR and start giving direction as to where to take the software rather than merely accept what UR are providing.

Sadly, we get told it is working 100% at TM HQ. Follow the happy package.

they have known about 'issues' long before that m8, and also promised fixes long before that as well, i first 'bricked' one of these in april 2010, and once id found out how to recover it, had emails from other testers who found themselfs in the same boat lol

TM needs to put their foot down with the UR team, and DEMAND results, not request them, we all know that the hardware is more than capable of delivering, but its being let down by the software thats running it

kind of like getting a masseratti, adapting the engine to run on deisel, then filling the tank with manky old chip fat

digi - i have been told that the UR team are in actual fact technomate themselves- dont know how thrue this is though - thats why the wont pay or ask any other team to do the work

would it not be cheaper and easier to just simply get rid of team UR and employ a team that know what there doing? not really fair having to buy/supply extra equipment when the hardware is already there !!
doesnt make sense to me lol

cheers

not true :)

if this is true then TM really needs to start finding a GOOD team that can deliver more and better images then UR team, as we all know that the hardware it is more then capaable to deliver.

I do know the TM owner and i have seen where they fix their tm800 but i can not say that the UR team was based in there. but i still think that TM has done enough testing on the buplic and they need to get a better team do deliver what the box can handle.

Very valid point...if TM wanted to rework a image designed for Dreamboxes they should have started by using a similar chipset and CPU i.e: Broadcom so there wouldnt be driver issues...the same as VU, Clarketech etc..It'c no coincedence that they opted for broadcom..

Personally I think they grossly miscalculated and thought they could use some cheap unheard of NXP chipset and easily mod an existing Dream Enigma 2 image to run on it...meaning quick and easy profits with minimal development costs...and it backfired in a major way.

UR team write the images for TM, itgate and another one or 2 badged OEM receivers, and are not part of any of the companies whose receivers use the images

I think we are straying from what I originally posted

To keep you on track Rat, I have requested my adaptor, altough I am hoping it will only be needed for a short term fix,

Just to confirm, I had a very quick email from TM asking for a copy of invoice and serial number, and on return they would be happy to post one out FOC

But this is a stupid temp fix to a bigger problem, whats the point having a sata hdd drive connected to usb port? Might aswell just use a portable usb drive? (if you have one already)
