Could one of the mods please move this thread to the moans section?
The issue is not about TM's customers service, so please do not take things personally Dr Linux. The service provided by TM is very good. Unfortunately, unless problems are accepted, they will not be addressed.
The offer to sort out customer problems is very much appreciated, but this is not the solution. The solution lies in fixing the underlying problems with the box. Namely, the flashing process as raised by Digidude, the sata issue as above. Once the foundation is solid, then I'm certain that things will only improve and at a faster rate than before. There are a few people who do not like UR as can be seen from their posts on different forums, but most of us here have bought the STB and have reported issues that have arisen with the box. This is only to make things better for everyone.
I have now spent six hours in the TM HQ. They should really provide some seating. The initial diagnosis was that I was doing things wrong, they swapped my sata cable, my HDD for a smaller one that was picked up by the STB for a while, then they replaced the STB. The newer images now pick up the HDD supplied by TM, but they do not record onto it. If I go back to 18/03 skinny, it will work fine but I will lose the extras that have been fixed by subsequent Python fixes. I am certain that my old STB will work fine once the whole of the software is re-written onto it owing to some corrupt code that was not being replaced by the flashes including those done by Richard. The issue is not hardware, or my using "unauthorised" images, it is something else. An underlying fault in the software/drivers and the way images are written onto the STB.
The bottom line is that all is not as well as it could/should be. Even the latest fix for the high bit rate channels comes many months after refusal to accept that there was a problem. If you go back to the posts you will see a chap highlighting the issue and the replies were always, "it is fine in our HQ".
So Dr, if you say you don't want anything else, nothing will get done. However, if you acknowledge that there are issues and go to UR and ask them address the following concerns, then they will try to fix them.
1. Fix the flashing process so that everything gets wiped out.
2. Fix the SATA drivers issues.
3. Fix the low audio output on HD channels
4. Timer record for itv2 hd, (I've not tried it on the latest image)
Could you also ask UR to delete outdated channel lists from their servers?
