Tune Failed

Been having a problem today picking up a number of channels. It comes up with a message tune failed. These channels have all been working fine & my mate also has the same problem today too. Anybody any ideas why this would be happening???

Have just had the same, and looked like the favourite list was well corrupted. I did a factory reset and am just in the process of re-doing my bouqets after a fresh sat scan

FTP a new satellite XML file to /etc/tuxbox/ from HERE (overwrite old one)

goto
menu
setup
service searching
tuner configuration
choose tuner
and set up your tuner

all should be fine then guys,this is happening a lot lately for some reason :err:

No Good. My list isnt corrupted. 50% of the channels work and the rest don't. The signal is very poor. My tm600 works fine thou. Can't understand this at all???

have you tried putting my bouquets accross mate ? Ive just updated them

I get sports HD1 and 2 but not 3 and 4 ???

sometimes somehow rescan is the only solution.ready list might not work 100 % i had sim peoblem with some channels on THOR sat,re scan was the only solution regards

Is it only channels with frequency above 12000, if so, heard about this recently.You may have a faulty tuner.The symptoms are when switching to a channel with frequency above 12000 signal strength falls off very quickly to below a viewable value and either locks or reports tune failed.Talk to TM or where you bought the box from.

My mates box is still not working. Its a new box and the faulty tuner sounds sounds like the most likely cause. Thanks again guys.

i have something simialr - alot of channels signal strength shows very low like bbc 1 itv etc ..on 28 east - why is this is my tuner faulty also ?

There was not a single case of failed tuner on TM800HD ever, to the best of my knowledge.
Chaps, I would recommend a different course of action...
Of course, you might be the 1st... and the 2nd... it's just that I find it rather difficult to believe.

Its been doing the same thing today again. When I switch to a channel with a frequency above 12000 the signal strength falls off & I get the message Tune Failed. The only way I can bring it back is to turn the power off on the back of the box & as long as it boots up whilst on a channel with a freq higher than 12000 it will be fine.

If the box boots up on sly one then I can switch back & forth to any channel. If it boots up on BBC HD then I cannot. It seems to be getting worse each day. Technomate have told me that its not a Tuner Fault but that its a software fault.

ive had the same tonight - on 28 east bbc etc signal level 28% and tuner falied appears - but when i check my tm 5400 signal level 85 % even in thsi bad wheather this is def a sofware bug i bel;ieve not a faulty tuner

i am sending the box to to technomate - to have the tuner replaced - they think as well as i do that the tuner is faulty - its really doing my head in to be honest

well this is a turn up for the books - another sat guy called around tonight and looped my tm5400 to my tm800hd and by jesus it seems to have worked - all signals coming in a hell of a lot clearer and better (still not as string as the tm5400) but alot better than it was - im still scanning the sats so will give another update when finished - but it's really strange why this has worked ????

everything looks 100% better - bbc one at one west for example on my tm5400 shows 95% on my tm800hd it shows 75% but no more break up or nothing im well chuffed !! so i assume although the tm800hd says 75% it's really only a software and its 95% as on my tm5400 ?

If you have to looptrough through a TM receiver(non linux) there must be something wrong with your tuner of the Linux receiver....

It means it can only get proper reception when strenthtend by another receiver...
This or a bad allignment of your dish of course ?

Strength of the signal ?

on certain transponders

BBC is a very strong transponder while the tiny pop & Zone horror channels are very weak ...(for belgium)

on my tm 5400 i get 95% on bbc on 1 west - with the tm800 i get 75% now -where it was only 50% now i know there is a bug that shows the signal level lower on the tm800 - so im going to remove them tm 5400 tonight to see if the signal drops on the tm800 and if so it's the tuner - he alswo told me that my long and lat where slighyl of so that would have done it as well !!

I know what you mean with the tuner. Somethimes some of my channels would work and sometimes they don't. Its keeps coming up with Tune Failed and my long and lat are perfect to what was on my TM6800+ super. I get 95% signal on that and 45%-50% on TM800HD. I spoke to a friend at Technomate and they indicated that the tuner is fine but its a software issue which is giving out the wrong signal percentages as the tuner is more sensitive than my TM6800.
