Another week passes :-(

Well another week goes by and still nothing from TM and UR expect that shitty beta image that to be honest does nothing. Who gives a shit about the VFD, i know what most people want working becuase im one of them - the ability to record encrypted channels and to be able to play them back properly :Clap: that would be nice. Im giving it until the end of next month, then i think im going to be selling my TM800HD and investing in a VU+ Duo as that does do what i want it to do :grab:

Also i feel more has been done on this forum to improve the TM800HD than UR and TM have done in months. Just simple things like sorting the time, the brilliant EPG install etc, all makes the user experience better. BTW, Do any of you guys know how to get the recording sorted

the recording issue is down to a critical process in the receiver being corrupted

i know of 5 people who have sold theirs on for a duo, but, a lot of the people who have done the work like the time fixes, epg, wav player etc (who we should all bow down to) are STILL fixing things that should have been basic things months ago to improve the image

but then when a new image comes out, even if it is beta with vfd fixes etc, they then have to start all over again, and, is it worth it if another release is less than a week away? or wait and see if the new release is any better then start from there?

As you say digidude a lot of people have sold there's and got a VU+ which has something techecnomate might never have which is fantastic.support.

Having great hardware is only as good as the software that runs with it on it.

digi does this mean we are ever going to get recording on the TM800 or is it just going to be a while before they fix it??

I have to be honest here i have a super stable box, it has a great epg, it does not go out of sync anymore, time is fixed, flashing is super quick box looks mint with it's blue lights.

If they can fix recodrding,pausing,rewinding etc then im a happy man. But to be honest recording on a single tuner box is pants anyway lol.You can only watch and record 2 seperate channels if they are on the same transponder.

Most of the stuff i would record can be had on catch up tv or web players anyway or even newsgroups. But in the mad house i live in pausing would be very handy.

I have an issue were i can not flash a backup even if it's my own which bugs me more tbh. And to be totally honest as a sat box for watching tv i can not fault it. More importantly my wife likes it lol.

It does bug me that only a single team is working on images though, and a team that is obviously struggling to fix important issues.

sargie i love the box as well the only thing that is letting it down it the inability to record. its been months and still no fix. If they could sort it any time soon i would keep the box but to be honest matey its becoming annoying now.

as you said m8.yes its very stable and thats all.Pvr function is something i probably never use.But 3 things are very imp for me,My lady is not good at english so subtitle is very essential.Streaming is too cause i can watch footie while kids are on wii or popcorn and wife is on her series .a couple of plugins that work on it will make me happy.so every body has different needs

in a week time we will get answer pos or neg ,i already ordered a skybox s9hd for 100 dollars inc p&p.

and its quite a big negative a box that will not record. i have owned 4 different boxes in the past a DM600, clone DM800HD and a spiderbox and they all recorded in one fashion or another. For me its a major thing as i work silly hours and need this function to watch stuff when i finally get home at night. yes there are alot of positives, i like this box but to not be able to record months after its been out and to just get crap new image that has improved VFD functions after 7 weeks of waiting is just beyond a joke. i say TM should release the base code and another group give it a go

Will it not stream to/from a shared directory on a pc ?.

I'm assuming it can do that.

Never understand why people want to record to a hd in the box, I havn't had a hd in a box since my dbox2 nearly four years ago and soon found it limited compared to the versatilty with a shared directory on my pc.

becuase some people only have laptops, work 12 hour shifts, dont finish till stupid times of the day and night and need their HD Box to record to an HardDrive thats connected to it, either internal or USB so they can catch up with tv whenever they get home. Is that to much to ask after owning 4 other boxes that did this function prefectly well.

Its not unreasonable to expect that basic the thing should be sorted now in its fourth months of being on sale.

And you cant blame people for knowingly buying a box that's not ready as its been advertised for the last 6 months in whatsat magazine strange technomate never stated that its not ready or fit for purpose in its ad campaign?

I find it wierd that they keep releasing beta images with random things that nobody cares about or needs...like VFD icon updates...are they completely out of touch with what customers want ? Or do they not care ?

Do they they just do this to make it look like they are doing something ?
Why not concentrate on important features like PVR, timeshift, WiFi, Card reader implementation etc...and give out updates on progress made on these issues..

I suppose much of this is actually down to ITGate and crappy UR Team, rather than TM themselves....the price of trying to cut costs and sell rebaranded recievers...It's actually quite funny that hobbyists have managed to fix things like time display, EPG etc...anfd TM/UR Team havent...

TM800HD is in danger of becoming another poorly supported failure like the AZBox or ReelBox...both good hardware but poor software support...

If you read around some other forums...TM800HD is hardly mentioned or talked about, this is probably the only forum where theres active TM800HD discussion.

theres 4 main ones m8

one of which is german, and one has a LOT more TM800 activity than DW

I only visit a few english speaking forums, mot seem much activity on those..maybe TM800's are a lot more popular in europe than the UK.
Im keeping an eye on this one...it's always good to have competition in the market and a good alternative to Dreams and their clones etc...dont think TM is anywhere near serious competition yet though...

thats the thing though m8, the hardware itself IS serious competition, its just totaly let down by the software

if a dev pack is released, which has been promised numerous times, then the tm800 will get a massive boost, not from UR team who fix what they think people will like (VFD icons instead of PVR etc) but from actual enthusiasts and hobbyists who have bought the receiver with their own hard earned cash, and who have the knowledge to make things work, and make things better

look at the time and epg fixes for example,

while the tm800 relies on the UR team, things wont change

Don't understand what 12 hour shifts have to do with anything (I work 5 12 hour days every week) but I can understand being limited to just a laptop though. I have a very old computer which I put all my downloaded films onto then want to us a hd sat box to watch them on my tv like I do with my dm500s

Would still like an answer to if it can stream to/from a shared directory on a pc or not ?. I want a hd box but if I can't stream my films from my server then it's not the box for me.

It does not stream anything to PC m8!You can only change channels do some other things that are basic.You can not mount anything on it!So stay away until it WILL!If you want to stream your films then AZbox is 1 of the best!
